Assos and Assos Castle
A holiday to Kefalonia would not be complete without a visit to Assos.
The beautiful seaside village is renowned for its laid back atmosphere, pretty stone washed buildings and the emerald waters of its bay. We always visit Assos with every trip to the island, and we always will.
There are some lovely water front tavernas to kick back take in the views and enjoy a relaxing lunch. Our children always look forward to a swim when we visit Assos, the clean calm waters of it's bay are perfect for this. There are some mesmerising ruins of grand homes from days gone by to gaze upon and wonder, who could have created these beautiful works of art (and if only I could win the lottery) to take them back to their once grand presence in this idyllic village. Assos Castle is also recommend if you are mobile and can tackle the walk up. Overlooking the bay of Agia Kyriaki the views really are tremendous and the castle is steeped in history through the last 400 years.
Assos really is a must visit in your trip to Kefalonia.
